Primary Network Solutions
IHP offers access to a national network of credentialed providers for use by members. The network consists of approximately 5,700 hospitals, 695,000 specialists and 228,000 ancillary providers. Payors may direct members to in-network providers through the use of traditional ID cards, benefit differentials or other steerage mechanisms. In exchange for directed patient volume, IHP participating providers deliver significant discounts to IHP payor clients. IHP works with its payor clients to set-up specialized electronic directories in order to optimize in-network usage. Other available services related to IHP’s Primary Network Solution include GEO Access mapping, network optimization studies, provider nominations, and toll-free provider locator lines.

Wrap Network Solutions
Oftentimes, payors utilize local or regional networks as their primary network solution but require a national network for members traveling outside the coverage area provided by the primary network. IHP offers access to a national network of credentialed providers for the purpose of directing members to in-network providers outside the primary network. The IHP Wrap Network consists of approximately 5,700 hospitals, 695,000 specialists and 228,000 ancillary providers. Payors may direct members to in-network providers through use of traditional ID cards, benefit differentials, or other steerage mechanisms. Other available services related to IHP’s Primary Network Solution include GEO Access mapping, network optimization studies, provider nominations, and toll-free provider locator lines.

Complementary Network Solutions
Despite best efforts by payors to keep members in-network, payors and members continue to incur tens of billions of dollars in out-of-networks claim costs each year. Out-of-network claims become a problem for the payor, provider and member due to the additional administrative burdens placed on all parties. In an effort to reduce these challenges, IHP developed a national Complimentary Network. The IHP Complementary Network consists of approximately 5,700 hospitals, 695,000 specialists and 228,000 ancillary providers. Participating providers offer IHP payors a discount on claims falling outside the directed network in exchange for simplified administrative procedures, prompt payment, and financial benefits to the member through shared savings arrangements. IHP typically achieves savings on greater than 65% of the dollars falling outside the primary and wrap network, resulting in millions of dollars in reduced medical exposure to the payor and its members.
